handcrafted in germany, our hatteras is defined by its impeccable stitching and sense of bold simplicity. made from a comfortable wool blend, this hatteras is ideal for all seasons and features a bold and colorful patchwork style.

the 8-piece construction and sewn-down brim are traditional features inspired by the iconic newsboy cap, which in turn took its cues from the scottish bonnet-style hats and irish flat caps worn by farmers and laborers of the 14th-century. when those same workers eventually immigrated to the u.s.a. they brought their hats with them, which quickly caught on. a favorite of american jazz legends since the early 1900s, the hatteras is a cap rooted in history.
